Playa Jacó finds itself situated together with the people of Playa in Costa Rica. Jacó is a quiet town situated in the province of Punatarenas, on the pacific coast of the country. It is popularly known as "playa fiesta" because of the nightlife the area has. However it is a type of casual and relaxed nightlife in which a tourist can feel welcomed by the local people.
Jacó has turned into one of the best hot spots for surfers throughout the world. On occasion the waves are so high and strong that they break perfection. International surf tournaments are even celebrated there, like on Playa Hermosa. Kayaking is also a very popular practice on Playa Jacó.
To the north of Jacó, around 24km (15 miles), there is the Carara national park, famous for the amount of fauna it boasts, such as toucans and white-faced monkeys.
The unique biodiversity of Playa Jacó, with its impressive views of beach landscapes, of white sand, brown and black sand (the three which are the best in Costa Rica) have also turned Costa Rica into a destination for everyone who is looking to enjoy nature. Costa Rica is one of the countries where one can best enjoy the tropical jungle.
All this has turned Playa Jacó into a global tourist destination and it has developed the place economically through investments in the tourism industry, national as well as overseas investments. Large hotel chains have been put there to satisfy the touristic demand of the area. All the most important resorts can be found with all the commodities: spas, casinos, shopping centres.
